Academic Biography:
Marco Cristini obtained his PhD in Classics at Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, Italy) in May 2020 with a dissertation about the Foreign Policy of Theoderic’s successors. He is now Post-Doc at Scuola Normale Superiore. His main research interests are Ostrogothic Italy, Diplomacy in Late Antiquity, Procopius of Caesarea, Cassiodorus and Jordanes.
He published papers about Procopius (in Klio and Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Studies), Cassiodorus’ Variae (in Latomus and Hermes), literary patronage in Ostrogothic Italy (in Klio), late antique consular diptychs (in Historia: Zeitschrift für Alte Geschichte), Eutharic, Theoderic’s son-in-law (in Aevum) and the battle of Horreum Margi (in Byzantinische Zeitschrift).
